My personal opinion we are all being played for fools.  Trade embargos are in place to artificialy inflate commodities while friendly nations continue to purchase through the back door, repackage it and sell it back to the lucky consumers at an inflated price, probably to make up for the money spent on covid.

I don't know about making up for Covid but I do know embargos and sanctions historically do not work. Those in power are not affected only the middle class and to a greater extent the poor affected. This is counterproductive. When EU and other nations declared  sanctions on Russia what were they thinking? That the billionaires in Russia would suddenly turn on Putin? Ridiculous. The oligarchs and Putin know they only have to wait for winter because when people cannot afford to be warm because of the high fuel prices caused by sanctions they will turn on their own governments. Sure sanctions cause problems for the Russian people but the ruling party could not care less about them. Winter is going to be interesting.

Russia is located in Asia

Russia is a transcontinental country, a state which is situated on more than one continent.

Russia spans the northern part of the Eurasian continent; 77% of Russia's area is in Asia, the western 23% of the country is located in Europe. European Russia occupies almost 40% of the total area of Europe.

So, where is the Ukraine located? If it’s not in Europe, where is it located?

You seemed to be suggesting that the US should not be getting dragged into a European War.  Why should the UK be dragged into it, or Germany or Italy or wherever by that token?  It's a war between 2 European countries, not a European War.

I think a few members had mentioned UK energy prices going through the roof.  I just looked it up, and wow!  This is scary!  I can't post it all, but a lot of stats in this link.

https://www.nimblefins.co.uk/average-cost-electricity-kwh-uk

The energy costs for Q4 2022 are going be triple or more Q4 2021!  Civil unrest ahead?

Is Europe the same?  Is this all about Putin or is the root cause all of the policies that let Putin have this "energy power" over UK and Europe?  Wars are fought over this kind of stuff.

There is a movement in UK called " Don't pay", which says basically that if energy bills won't be lowered a bit people will cancel their direct debit. I have a feeling about how PH government would answer to non-payers, but I am just curious about UK outcome.

There are lots of groups or movements , off course the best ones for advice is Facebook just kidding, they are not saying don’t pay but stop your direct debit and each month read your meter and give the readings to your supplier and then pay for what you use , but if the bill is to much then pay what you can and then pay the rest on tick .

Im am going to stop my direct debit because they will take out of your bank what they think I will use over the year and that could be hundreds of ££££££ more then what I actually use , rather have the money in my bank then there bank making money , we shall see what will happen in the new free days weeks .

That’s an excellent question. There’s many ways to think about this. When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, was it a European war or just a war between two European countries?

Putin and his political party believe it was a mistake to break apart the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).  They want to return to the USSR era by attacking one country at the time.  It is attempted reunification by forceful means.  The Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) and Poland are now part of EU.  Should Europe allow Russia to take it back?  What about Finland which Russia claims historical ownership?  Let's be thankful that so far it is a proxy war.  The Ukrainians do the fighting while the United States, Europe and others provide political, armaments and humanitarian support.  By the way, ultra-nationalist Russians are demanding the United States return Russia.
