In many cases, but I am sure in other cases, many of these guys are just lonely and are hoping for 'real' companionship.  Either case it is pretty sad how easily people take advantage of others.

I don't disagree but in some/many cases the older guys are well aware of the 'business nature' of the relationship, and if not that's on them.  Let's be straight, what do these guys think is in it for the females?

Going by many comments in FB from expats about how they would never give their pretty young wives/girlfriends extra money to help look after the family who raised her, it seems quite a few are naive or selfish enough to think their trophy wives are out with the fat old, boring home body, purely out of love.

hmmmm  I am torn on this one.   I do see your point, however, the flip side:   If that is the only reason she married the fat old boring homebody; she is guilty as charged as well.   A match made in Filipino heaven.

They may not be giving much, if anything, now, but for some they play the long game and are 'happy' to sit tight and enjoy their relatively comfortable lifestyle in the knowledge their is a nest egg coming to them in the not too distant future.
