Why, why, why, so loud?

I don't get it.  SM Appliance at SM Central Olongapo was blasting the loudest music I have ever heard indoors, and possibly outdoors too.  This video doesn't really capture the sound, but I guess they are showing off the capability of that one single speaker.  Ear damaging capability coming to a neighbor near you!

The mall is having a 3 day sale.  I just found that you can download decibel meter apps.  If I am there tomorrow I will download one.

Especially at midday when they broadcast the Lords Prayer. That really irks me.

If they broadcast the Lord's Prayer at that volume level, I'm certain lightening would come down from the heavens and strike that speaker! :hystery:

In our daughter's previous school during UN Day ceremony I measured the PA system sound at 85db. No wonder by the time they are in their 30's they shout at the person sitting next to them.

I used my phones app to measure decibel. I got 87 decibels and I get this kind of techno/disco every July and August.

Thinking of going on vacation next year.

I just downloaded an app.  Our dog barking measure 65 from a few feet away.  SM must have been 100+ last night!

Karaoke is no fun unless everyone can hear the music.  The store is merely giving a demonstration.  I recall National (Panasonic) selling speakers the size of coffins.  It was installed in an upright position.  The reason, in the provinces, the living room was on the second floor and the street facing window was large.  All the neighbors could see that you are wealthy enough to afford huge speakers.  The same with high volume Karaoke equipment.

In Japan where karaoke was invented playing karaoke loud enough to disturb residential neighbors is frowned upon and considered rude also illegal. In Filipino karaoke rudeness and consideration isn't thought of. It's a different culture.
