Where did you get the pastrami? Looks real good.

This place in Manhattan has some good pastrami and corned beef. The original deli just south of Central Park has closed I see.

There's a company here in Davao and I don't know where else it may be? It's called Mindanao Basket. Loaded with incredible (and incredibly expen$ive steaks) from "basic" prime cuts up to and beyond Wagyu. P2,000+ for a nice, thick well marbled ribeye anyone?

Who could get their mouth around that amazing sandwich? The bread looks like an afterthought.

And the cheesecake looks like what my Mom used to make sometimes, when I was a kid. Add some fresh strawberries or cherries or blueberries? I am getting fat just looking at and writing about it!:SugarwareZ-047:

I have found whole pastrami at S&R sometimes. I cut it into manageable pieces and freeze them individually. I thaw, slice and store for a week or so in the refrigerator

Finally got it together and made Rueben sandwiches tonight for our small dinner. I really needed a hit of familiar American food and have put it off for ever. Pastrami (since no sliced corned beef available), Ementhal cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, all on nice rye bread... L loved it - as she enjoys many foreign foods if I cook them.

Ready to grill:

looks great, one of my all-time favorite sandwiches.  Santis Deli used to make a really good Rueben.   Over the last many years, as I age and trying to be a little more health conscious, my consumption of food like a Rueben hasnt happened in a long time.   Having said that, if somebody put a Rueben in front of me, paired with an ice cold beer, I would be eating and drinking with a smile on my face.

There is a small bakery near us opened and run by a fellow from France.  He has a small deli case with specialty meats and cheeses.  His bread and pastries are delicious.  He will bake customer requests with 24 hour notice such as Rye, Pumpernickel, etc.   Very popular and he has been able to expand and now serves breakfast and lunch.

Looks delicious! I’m still in the USA and wanted to get some corned beef here. Boar’s Head brand corned beef at Publix grocery store was $18.99 per pound so I had to settle for a “wish” sandwich instead; sauerkraut, spicy brown mustard, thousand island dressing, Swiss cheese and wish I had some corned beef! 🤣
