Popular Post GeoffH Posted July 19 Popular Post Posted July 19 (edited) As some of you will know a truck ran into to the back of our Toyota Raize recently. The insurance claim is progressing and we're waiting for the ordered parts to arrive and then repairs will start. But being without a car during the repair process would be difficult as we don't all fit on her Mio and my old Yamaha SZ150 is well past it's best, very difficult to start and running badly. So I used the excuse of 'this is a good time to replace it with a new motor, we can take the kids to school on two motors while the cars being repaired'. I think she saw right through me 😅 But never the less... new motor scooter time, a Suzuki Burgman 125 EX 😁 Got a bonus jacket and helmet too... Forum Support Popular Post Mike J Posted July 20 Forum Support Popular Post Posted July 20 Good for you! I would like to have a new scooter but at the age of 75 I think my next ride will be a NWOW Golf2. My reflexes are not as quick, my balance not as fine, my strength is less. So a new scooter, think NMAX, would be a bad idea. I was going to stop riding at 70, now five years later still have the urge to ride but I find less enjoyment when I do ride. I ride because it is more convenient for parking, small tight places, etc. Part of getting older and recognizing limits I guess. Kind of sad but it is what it is.

I am in exactly the same situation.......After riding big bikes, also off road riding until late 60s its time to quit......know the feeling of wanting all to well
graham59 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 That's the exact same scooter I was considering buying (new). Still toying with the idea, but at coming up to 74, I have the same misgivings as Mike J .
Popular Post GeoffH Posted July 21 Author Popular Post Posted July 21 (edited) I gave up riding big bikes a couple of years ago, the weight was getting too much for me to enjoy riding them. With my SZ150 (has gears) being retired and being replaced by an auto scooter I'm hoping to get a few more years riding. But as people have said, there will come a time when I have to stop riding as well. But for now at least I'll enjoy the new ride 😊 Edited July 21 by GeoffH

Forum Support Tommy T. Posted July 23 Forum Support Posted July 23 (edited) I think it's too late now, but I always wanted a Harley Sportster 900cc... Short, cut-off pipes, louder than $hit. That's the juvenile still hidden inside me... I had a very loud Triumph Daytona 500, but that didn't hold a candle to the Harleys. Maybe I will buy one anyway, just to fire it up now and then, blast a few revs and perhaps embarrass some of the locals who like to show off their toy 150cc bikes as they race up and down the road in front of us? In my opinion, there's nothing like the sound of a Harley cranking up some revs... Edited July 23 by Tommy T. 2
GeoffH Posted July 23 Author Posted July 23 (edited) I do love the sound of a Harley, I really enjoyed the ones I owned and a Sportster is about as close to the original Harley feel as one can get (no not the new liquid cooled thing the original 883 or 1200). Forum Support Tommy T. Posted July 23 Forum Support Posted July 23 (edited) Totally off topic - sorry - but I REALLY love the sound of an old - or new - big block Dodge or Chevy with loud pipes. The loping growl at idle, then howl when they are opened up and burn rubber half a block down the road in first gear before doing the same in succeeding gears...
