I had to post this... Right now I am on pins and needles waiting for L to receive a visa approval or DENIED? She locked her cell phone in her hotel to make it easier to navigate the embassy rules and procedures. I will advise the group once I hear how it went with the 30-90 second "interview."

Good luck ! I hope she gets it with no problem.

Thanks for the comments. As we expected, she was denied, mainly because she is a teacher and it is school year now... As if that matters here since the kids already have so many holidays and, when having classes, how many are cut because of song and dance????

So we will try again during the "summer" break in May or June next year.

L added the comment to me that the consul woman - who was very nice to her - mentioned...one month during school year? So, yeah... we will try again mid-year, next year... What's ~$500+/- to fuss with embassy officials? Oh... and air fare, hotel and restaurants?

Really sorry to hear it, mate.  Hope the next attempt goes well.

AM and I were considering a trip there late next year to visit some of my old friends in BC and OR/WA.  May just do the BC thing now, and they can come to us.  Cold Christmas would be nice.  We'd hate to have everything approved, and then be turned around on arrival for something trivial; which has been happening reasonably regularly.

Unfortunately, nothing new.  Always been hit and miss.  As mentioned in that other topic, Filipinos have a higher than average overstay rate, which hurts all the honest applicants.
