Popular Post MotorSarge Posted August 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2025 Reminds me of the Youtubers I sometimes watch who go to the PI on the minimalist funds, who usually are the VA pensioned vets, SSD recipients or other early low pensioned expats that tell how easy it is to live the glamourous life on 1 to 2 thousand USD. Yet most of their videos come from walking streets, eating street/fast food and living in 1-star shacks with no medical ins. while renting 3rd class hoes. Etc, Etc, Etc. 4 2

To be fair, a lot of similarly funded people live on the streets with shopping carts in Canada and USA so they would consider their circumstances in Philippines to be living like a king by comparison. 7

And, if nothing else, it's warm here year around. No need to park one's self over a heating vent in a city.
Popular Post hk blues Posted August 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2025 I would have thought it's better to be poor in a poor country than poor in a rich country! 5 1

Popular Post stevewool Posted August 30, 2025 Popular Post Posted August 30, 2025 Realistically if you had no debts, owned your own house and car or bike or whatever could we live on that amount each month , but it’s always nice to know that there is a amount of cash in the background for that just incase
JJReyes Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 The viewers of videos about, "How to Live Like a King on $1,000." are individuals retiring on $2,000 to $2,500 per month. It reassures them they have enough money to plunge into an unknown country. Many Filipinos survive on half at around P25,000 or less than $500, which means it is theoretically possible. The main risk is medical care because hospitals in the United States, under federal law, are required to provide emergency care regardless of whether you can pay or not. In the Philippines, they will leave you bleeding on the sidewalk if you don't have money, preferably cash.

I disagree, but this is just a matter of opinion. Rich people flock together in places like Beverly Hills. Those who are upper middle class may be better off in a poor country. Especially when they are just tourists in a poor country.
