We just got an exceptional deal on a Recumbent Bike.  Even though my wife is much younger than I am, she already has a herniated disc (lower back), and my knees are asking me to do something different.  The recumbent bike seemed a logical choice.   Why am I sharing this???   This is one of the very VERY few times I have purchased something  here of any quality that was much cheaper than what it would have cost me in the US.  We got it at 40 percent off, and in doing my research prior to purchasing, that 40 percent was actually legit (another shocker).   Deals are out there, few and far between it sometimes seems, but they are out there.

it was pretty fricken pricey so hold on to your shorts.  Original price is 282,995 we got it for 40 percent off of that which came out to just under 170k, which is 75,000 pesos cheaper than any price I could find in the US.   It is a "Matrix R50-XIR Recumbent Bike"   You can save about 20k maybe more (if my memory serves me correctly) if you opt for the screen that is smaller with no wifi etc...  Thought about getting that one but in the end I just said, ahh fck it.   It was 40 percent off yesterday, so I went there with my wife today to see if should would be able to use it (she is 4'10")   It was a stretch, but with a lumbar cushion she should be fine.   When we arrived it was down to 35 percent.   I told her if they can give me the 40 percent discount, I would buy it, she called the manager and he ok'd it.   Wont have it delivered till November as we are leaving for Thailand soon.   Couple factors went into buying it, and buying it now:  1.  The peso dollar exchange rate is ripe for big purchases like this.  2.   My wife and I both "TRY" to stay fit and the pounding on the pavement is having and adverse affect.  3.   Raining season sometimes makes it extremely difficult to get out and move the body.     Ahhhhh the place we purchased it is called "Johnson Fitness and Wellness"

Was that at Johnson?  They have top notch equipment, but yes, they are pricey.  At that level, it should have durability suitable for a professional gym.

Given my experience with buying gym equipment, my top priority would be total surface area.  The higher the surface area, the less dust that will collect on my furniture.  I had a really nice Nordictrac treadmill in Kentucky, and when I moved here, I sold it as "very low miles"!

I'm after a gym quality elliptical for much the same reasons.  Low impact on my back, hip and knees. I swim most days, but I'd like to mix it up a bit.

Being Scottish I'll buy one of these and fix it to the wall. A bargain at 357 pesos. 🤔
