Went to S&R Dau today and they have a new entrance policy.  They have a scanner at the door where your membership card is scanned, and your picture is displayed on a screen.  I guess if the pic does match someone in your group, no entry?

After not having Folgers coffee for several months, it is back in stock for p1499.   I think it was 1100-1200 before.

They have a new yoghurt, Fage, from U. K.   It must have gold mixed in.  P1424 for 950 grams!

Sweet.  Folgers went 2.5X over the last year in Costco near me, (Canada), so I was thinking it would be crazy bad in the Phils.  But that is not much of an increase,  Here the price went from about $11.99 CAD up to About $29 CAD then gradually dropped to about $25 CAD where its seems to be staying.

Various seller's had it on Lazada over the past months and were asking p2000-3000 for the big one.  I was prepared to pay more if they had it.

There was a scarcity of coffee beans in 2025, but some of it was due to exporting countries holding back on shipping to cause prices to spike.

Much of that was because the importer wasn't willing to pay the new tariff. Tariffs were up and down so they waited until they finally settled down.

Interesting.  I did not think USA would be involved in this as coffee comes from non-US countries but now I see that it is processed in New Orleans so the Canadian government must be putting a tariff on Folgers coffee while the Philippines is not.  That would explain the difference in price.

Amazing, screwed by our own government.  Who would'a thunk it?  And I bet millions of Canadians blame it on Trump while it is our own government collecting those tariffs every time we buy Folgers.  Feckers!

Not sure what Canada is doing for tariffs, but the U.S. removed the inbound tariff on coffee beans in November.  It will take a while for that to be reflected into retail prices.  I just checked Amazon, and the Folgers prices are still high.  Compare Amazon prices to Canada and that might give you a fair comparison.

Coffee prices have been going up for 5 years.

We experienced the new policy at S&R Dau a few days ago as well. Same experience, they swiped my card, my photo came up. They still don't appear to be enforcing the 3 guest policy because it still seemed like bring the relatives & neighbors with you day with groups of more than 3 hovering around 1 buggy. Did you observe that as well?

Membership Policy

Members are welcome to bring up to three (3) guests. However, only members may purchase using his/her Membership Card.

I think they started enforcing it during covid, if I remember right before covid you could bring a bus load in with you. Just like red lights,,,,it is only a "suggestion" lolol

About 40-50 years ago I was driving into work and listening to the radio.  The news came on and reported a 'devastating freeze' in one or more of the coffee growing companies and prices were going to spike.  I pulled into a grocery store and bought 10 each three pound cans of coffee.  I think they may have even been on sale?   Maybe $2.99 a can?  Price of coffee went to over $10 a can in just a day or so.  I had a years supply tucked away and never told anyone.
