Executor of a Will - Philippines

Had a discussion last night at a watering hole with another Foreigner who unkowingly was designated as an Executor for another Foreigner. The Foreigner died, the wife came to his house to tell him he was the Executor and is wondering where all the money in The Bank accounts is. He is going threw some challenging times now as the appointed Executor, barley knew the other Foreigner, wasn't aware he died.

Something to consider if ever asked or unkowingly appointed as an Executor of anothers will in The Philippines.

Just plain WOW! :Caught:Talk about a nightmare scenario. No matter what he says or proof he provides the widow (and her family) are going to suspect he took the cash. If he were to ask me, I would seriously recommend an extended vacation.

He should look into getting removed as Executor ASAP - if that's possible under local laws.

We currently face a situation where a cousin is the court appointed executor of my grandmother's estate.  Our great grandmother died and great grandfather remarried.  The second wife and her children claimed everything.  The court battles lasted more than 60 years and was eventually adjudicated by the Philippine Supreme Court.  There are now over 150 individuals over several generation entitled to money.  My cousin's task is to track down the missing heirs and inform them she has their money.  Most think it's a scam and refuse to respond.  We told her to ask the supervising judge if she can distribute the cash to the heirs who want it.  Another way is to donate their money to charity.  The amounts are small, but large enough not to ignore.
