I watched on You Tube the president's press conference.  Very little said about a national plan to conserve fuel.  Or rather, they don't have a plan.

The wife and her sister took a short holiday to Baguio.  Her return flight from Clark to Mactan was Thursday evening.  She had planned on spending the night in a hotel and then returning to Moalboal via Ceres bus.  Hearing of the public transit strike being called for Cebu City she texted and ask if she could hire car and driver to return home Late Thursdays.  I agreed.  She texted back that our trusted driver was available and the fare would be 4000 peso, airport to home.  That is a 1000 peso increase due to the increase in full cost.  The driver was able to find tourists who were leaving Moalboal to go to the airport.  He reduced the wife's fare to 2500 peso.  \

Below is a google summary of the info for the transit strike.

<snip>

A two-day nationwide transport strike, supported by Piston-Cebu, is scheduled for March 26-27, 2026, to protest high fuel prices and demand government action on oil deregulation. This follows a previous strike on March 19-20 that caused 75-90% transport paralysis on major routes in Cebu City, leaving commuters stranded.

Key Details on Cebu City Transit Strike:

Date: March 26-27, 2026 (Two-day strike).

Groups Involved: Piston Cebu, led by Greg Perez, is participating in the nationwide transport protest to protest high fuel prices.

Impacted Areas: Major routes in Cebu City are expected to be affected, including areas near P. Del Rosario St., Mabolo, Talamban, and Lahug-Ayala.

Previous Strike (March 19-20): Over 500 drivers participated, resulting in many "ghost terminals" and severe transportation shortages.

Demand: Transport workers are protesting the high cost of oil, calling for the suspension of fuel taxes, the abolition of the oil deregulation law, and expressing dissatisfaction with current government relief efforts.

Potential Disruptions & Advice:

Expect heavy disruptions on routes like Tamiya–Mepz 1, Mabolo–Ayala, and Talamban–Carbon.

Authorities have deployed security to monitor protest actions.

Maybe they should quit allowing bicycle taxis on the national highway.  It uses a lot of fuel for vehicles going two miles per hour at top speed.  Is that what people mean when they refer to sinking to the lowest common denominator?  I loved how they got rid of the truck ban during certain hours in Manila.  That is a great way to help with traffic.
