morning1.gif Yes that pretty much covers just about everything and I have to wonder why the heck the US cares about some of this stuff unless they are trying to prevent US citizens from moving out of the country with their worldly goods unsure.gif but food WTH is their problem. unsure.gif I think it is important to note that it says used clothing of commercial quality, so I would take that to mean that which would be sold, and I sure hope they do not mean any used clothing. unsure.gif My wife and I always send over boxes of clothing for our family, and just sent two, so I hope they do not stop and confiscate that clothing, since it is meant only for our family and not for resale. I told my wife to include a letter in the top of each box stating that she is one of 13 and each has a dozen or so kids, and that the clothing is only for her family but I doubt even that would stop them if they are getting bugs up their asses nowadays. wt-hell.gif is this world coming to? ohmy.gif
...or so? 12 X 12 = 144 :th_thholysheep:Damn Lee...I sure would hate to be needing a pair of shorts in that Walmart after you are done shopping. :541:
The worst part is she is the second youngest, which means most of the kids now have kids, so there are literally hundreds (with an S) of family members in the village she comes from. Now back to the Balikbayan Boxes. I definitely think that the US is expecting a mass exodus, and therefore wants to prevent people from taking their wealth with them. I have to wonder what else they might be thinking when I see an item such as Money Instruments as one on the list. Monetary Instruments are defined below and include checks, so a person cannot even legally put their checkbook in the BB box if I am readying that correctly? wt-hell.gif It seems they forgot to include electronics, I hope they don't read this, or think of it themselves, or they may make moving over even more difficult for many, since I have known people who shipped just about everything they owned over in BB boxes.coins and currency
in the United States, refers to coins and currency of a foreign country, travelers’ checks, bearer negotiable instruments, bearer investment securities, bearer securities, stock on which title is passed on delivery, and similar material or checks, drafts, notes, money orders, and other similar instruments which are drawn on or by a foreign financial institution and are not in bearer form
(defined in 31 USC § 5312(a)(3)©)

I'm sure the U.S. could care less if people leave. They just want to track all the wealth leaving. They want to be sure it is properly taxed. :541:

Does anybody know of a Balikbayan shipper from the UK to Cavite Philippines and the approx cost? With our baby due next month, I've bought the bare minimum of baby bits and pieces here, but some of their pricing here is double to whats being offered online by UK companies.

We have sent 5 or 6 different shipment from Indiana over the years. Maily personal items, clothes, tools. 2 of our boxes last summer got delayed in Santa Monica , I believe, due to homeland security and took over 5 months to reach Cebu. The last box made it in less than 90 days and was easily trackable up until it reached manila. One company put a 50lb weight restriction on some we sent .
