Where was the generator made? travel adapter perhaps will solve the problem?
The male plug I need looks like the one in this picture that I will attach. Problem is, I found one that looks very much like the pic but it does not fit. Similar, but not the same. The generator is a Nitoo PR6500D brand, which is a Chinese knock off of a Honda Generator. All help accepted.post-41-0-41949800-1330171186_thumb.jpgpost-41-0-11098300-1330171451_thumb.jpg Edited by Dave Hounddriver

That seems like what I may have to do. Not being handy at that kind of thing I would need to find a local pro to do it but it may be a last resort. I kind of like to leave it stock but . . well you just may be right. There may be no alternative.

Sometimes the easiest answers are the ones we never think of...!

If you want to leave it in original condition then get an electrician to wire the new plug and socket in as an extra and leave the original. If ever you have to take it back for warranty etc you can easily have your part removed.

Hummmm ... looks like a typical 240 male twist lock plug ..... did you print a picture from the internet and take it with you to show them ..... it would be way to much trouble to change out the female in the gen-set ..... if you could even find a female reciptical that could fit it .....Did you check any appliance repair places or ones that sell appliances ...... some times they will have cord caps that are for higher voltage appliances ..... just thought ..... a friend of mine needed a 4 prong cord cap and found on somewhere in an appliance store ..... take a pencil and paper and trace the reciptical and the pin loction paying attention to the hole the locking pin is in .....

Hummmm ... looks like a typical 240 male twist lock plug ..... did you print a picture from the internet and take it with you to show them .Yes, I brought the pic that I posted. I had it on my phone to show them.... it would be way to much trouble to change out the female in the gen-set I thought that too, but Curley's advise to wire in an add on female seems logical..... if you could even find a female reciptical that could fit it ..... Did you check any appliance repair places or ones that sell appliances I have checked every store that stocks hardware, electrical, generators, and appliances in Naval and Ormoc...... some times they will have cord caps that are for higher voltage appliances ..... just thought ..... a friend of mine needed a 4 prong cord cap and found on somewhere in an appliance store ..... take a pencil and paper and trace the reciptical and the pin loction paying attention to the hole the locking pin is in .the plug I bought in Ormoc was a match to the picture but it is not exact. I will attempt to bend the pins tomorrow to see if I can force it because it is so close to what I need. I am afraid that it won't give me a good enough connection to handle 30 Amps at 240 volts if I piss around with it.....
Thanks Mike, and all others. Comments like this help me to think this through. My first step will be to go back to the acquaintance who sold me the Gen to see if I can persuade him to part with his male plug. Then, if a male plug does not miraculously appear, I shall try to find a local electrician to jury rig a connection. The Generator only cost me 25K but the dicking around to get a male plug has just about convinced me that I should have bought new and saved the headaches.

Anyway Dave if you decide to wire in a new plug or power point as I will call it the instructions are here and easy to follow.First start generator. Then unscrew panelUnscrew wires and at this point you will know how much electricity is going though the screwdriver and yourself, perhaps instant erection will give it away. Now call electricity expert to complete the job.Throw away a weeks supply or Viagra as not needed now.DoneNo need to thank me,just helping out here.

I think I have a couple on my work truck. I can mail it to you. (how long does that take?) It's just a twist lock plug. We use them on most of our commercial kitchen equipment. Most of mine have 4 prongs but I think I have some of the 3's. (we use the 4's to run 220 and 110 in one plug)
