Take an easy gear, one which you could spin the bike in easily. No need to change the gear but spin the legs faster to gain more speed.

High cadence or high RPM training is very benificial to improving collateral circulation in the heart. Yet it's low resistance so also low risk.

Consider a higher gear on subsequent ride.

It gets you away from home for a while, so consider a stop for refreshment if the ride is extended a little.

I continued on a program of 1000 km in a month and this is my 3rd month.

We did 100 km on Sunday, to Batac, home of Marcos, easy pace like a tour. Going ok and keeping the weight very low.

For those of you getting into it, spin the bike in one of the easiest gears when getting started. Using the higher gears will make you tired and you wont get over any significant hills. And hour of easy, high RPM work x 3 days a week will keep you quite fit.  Suck on any menthol candy to keep the mouth clear of mucous and give a few calories in over the hour.
