Manila airport

Manila Airport is not so good but also not so bad either. Was you ever have been in the old Doha airport in Qatar? That airport was just terrible. No flight announcement, nearly no clock around, cold water in the toilet so hot and very long bus transfers to/off the planes. It was even possible to miss the flight while sitting in front of the gate due unannounced gate changes.

I have noticed a significant improvement at  NAIA in the time that I have been flying in and out. I was impressed how clean and nice it was flying in. The bag pic up was busy, but nothing worse than many other airports. All the boths were manned at immigration and the lines were moving quickly. I was able to walk to  the white taxi cab line and get right in a cab to Makati. $160 piso plus tip. Now if only it goes so smooth when I fly out in the morning

My preference is to take Philippine Airlines. It is not the best airlines and prices are usually higher. The main advantage is the carrier has their own arrival/departure terminal. Much closer to Makati so you avoid some traffic. I also tell the driver to take the skyway mentioning that I will pay the toll and add to his tip. Much better than taking the congested streets. The taxi driver doesn't care because the meter is running.

That is the Canadian, Australian or US peso sign. The governments just call it a dollar still from nostalgia.:hystery:

The new airport is absolutely stunning.

I doubt they went back to the Airport to check in. They only call for you if you have checked in on the flight.

With the online check-ins people can do days before, its not a surprise that so meny people miss their flights.

There is a good reason Manila has been in the top5 worst Airports in the world for years. Terminal one specially is such a dump. I had to stay in terminal one for 10 hours once and i hated every second. Nowhere to sit or buy food while you wait for the check in to open + its super dirty. The closed off area after immigration was actually worse cleaness wise..... Prober shithole. I wouldn't go thru Terminal 1 even if the ticket was free. Terminal 2 and 3 are much better, but compared to other Airports, they are still shitholes!

Ill use Cebu's Mactan airport anyday over Manila as my entry/exit airport...

Got a flight to Manila in a week and out of Manila to Europe in 12 days. Not excited for the Airport visit.... Unfortunately Cebu's connections to Europe aren't that good...

I agree Sander, one of the worst airports I have experienced, I would think it is closer to NO. 1 than No. 5.  Appalling facilities.  Not looking forward to that part of my entrance to Philippines to settle down in retirement in July, but has to be done.

Yep

The peso is usually denoted by the symbol "₱". This symbol was added to the Unicode standard in version 3.2 and is assigned U+20B1 (₱). The symbol can be accessed through some word processors by typing in "20b1" and then pressing the Alt and X buttons simultaneously.[1] Other ways of writing the Philippine Peso sign are "PHP", "PhP", "P", or "P" (strike-through or double-strike-through uppercase P), which is still the most common method, however font support for the Unicode Peso sign has been around for some time.[

My first trip to MNL in the 90's it was a steaming pile and the mens room had two inches of water in it. I hope it was water. The domestic annex was an open tin roofed area no walls no seating at least some air movement unlike the international terminal.

Our friends and family live in Cebu so we don't have to fly into MNL, and never ever will again. Ever.
