Forum Support Old55 Posted February 23, 2017 Forum Support Posted February 23, 2017 So, what's the strangest thing you brought to Philippines with you from your home country? That you are willing or able to admit? Please share your suggestions or warnings, what's the worst thing that happened?

Popular Post Dave Hounddriver Posted February 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2017 This is an interesting topic. I look forward to hearing what others brought. I came with 2 suitcases and a carry on, maxed in weight. So I was very limited and could only bring what I thought were the most essential things. That was 10 years ago. Let me start with the strange item I was most happy that I brought. I had recently purchased a couple of TOP quality memory foam pillows for my bed. I stuck them into plastic garbage bags and used the vacuum to suck the air out so they took up almost no space at all in my suitcase. When I arrived, these pillows took their original shape and are still absolutely fantastic to this very day. I have found no match for them here. Although Mandaue foam has some half decent memory foam pillows they have nothing that retains its quality and form for over 10 years. Now the strangest item(s) that I need not have brought. Toys to "please the ladies". I had this idea that Philippines was the land of sex starved women and I did not know if I had enough stamina, at age 52, to keep up with the demands. So I brought some toys to assist. Although they were cute conversation pieces I did not need them in the last 10 years and they have mostly been discarded in the trash. But still a worthwhile addition to the luggage of some less fortunate gents who might not have my stamina If I did it again I would cut back on the thick cloth clothing I brought. I wanted quality Tee shirts so I brought some with me, but they are made for cooler climates and the ones I buy here are much cooler to wear so the Tee shirts i brought from Canada tend to gather dust in the closet most of the time.
Forum Support Popular Post Old55 Posted February 23, 2017 Author Forum Support Popular Post Posted February 23, 2017 My first weird one was during my third visit to marry my wife. Had about 60 lbs of Brown & Haley chocolate candy rejects in five pound tubs. Cebu customs were suspicious asking me to explain. I said that I was getting married, big smiles and on my way.
Popular Post JJReyes Posted February 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2017 For the farm, my father preferred military style Land Rovers which he purchased directly from the U.K. The problem was parts. We had to get them from Hong Kong. One time my brother and I had to bring a section of a transmission assembly. The weight was nearly 50 kilos. It was hand carried using two straps. During the good old days, you can do those sort of things.

Reboot Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) What about OUT of the country? My brother in law's brother keeps fighting cocks. Yes I know it is illegal in the US, but boys will be boys. I am thinking some of those Filipino cocks might fetch a good price. Some of the ones he looks after for others are supposed to be worth $10k. Edited February 23, 2017 by Reboot
