Personal questions, how do you deal with them?

My Filipina friends always ask me how much I paid for something, then tell me where I can get it cheaper. They are shocked when I tell them I paid 84p for breakfast (2 eggs and toast) . They tell me where I can get the same breakfast for 30p, or better yet where I can buy eggs for 6p each and cook it myself.

For relatives and closer friends, if the question is something I don't want to talk about, in a nice way, I just flatly tell them that where I come from we don't ask such personal questions.  Helps them understand my culture.

Just like the guy trying to sell me sun glasses when he can plainly see I'm wearing mine.

Most of it is they are hoping for a commission I believe.
