CEBU, Philippines - Argao police arrested a Russian national for allegedly firing his gun indiscriminately while in the waters off Barangay Poblacion yesterday afternoon.

Yury Saminskiy, 34, who temporarily resides in Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, did not resist arrest but introduced himself as a member of the International Police Commission (Interpolcom).

He also showed a license for the gun he was holding.

But Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos, Argao police chief, said they found out that the license was fake upon verification with the Firearms Explosives Security Service Agency and Guards Supervisory Section (FESSAGS).

Foreign nationals are not allowed to possess a firearm in the country.

Batobalonos also checked with the International Police (Interpol) and learned that Interpolcom is an illegal organization.

“The members of this organization are wanted by law,” Batobalonos told The FREEMAN in a phone interview.

Saminskiy and his friends rented a motorized banca from a fisherman in barangay Poblacion.

Batobalonos said that when they were about 100 meters from the shore, Saminskiy fired his gun.

The police heard the gunfire as their office is just near the shoreline.

They immediately responded and arrested Saminskiy who voluntarily turned over his .40 caliber pistol.

Also confiscated from Saminskiy were 14 rounds of ammunition, 10 empty shells, a fake identification card of the Interpolcom and a fake firearm license.

Police are now preparing complaints of alarm and scandal and illegal possession of firearm against Saminskiy. — (FREEMAN)

I keep telling people if you ain't suppose to have something that a foreigner is not intitled to have don't take it ....... like the guy above I had someone offer me a firearm permit and it would be all perfectly legal ..... but what happens when I go outside his district ...... what happens when I get caught like the guy above did ..... who is gonna help me ...... no one because a foreigner is not supposed to carry a firearm ...... the guy above will be back to eating Russian food in no time ..... if he isn't jailed here first .....

I had a federal fire arms license back in the US and I do love my guns (after all I'm an American ain't I .... :mocking: ) but the most dangerous thing I have in the house (besides my asawa) is 2 cans of pepper spray .... a 6ft piece of 2" bamboo (laced on both ends) a 4ft x 1 1/2 chunk of rounded hard wood that you can't drive a nail into and my whit's ..... of coarse I could always fall on my knees and beg ..... I mean after all seeing a 500lb. ... bald headed ... smelly ... drunk and popping Viagra all the time to keep my asawa from running around with another man .... should just about guarantee that they won't hurt me in a home invasion ..... or maybe not ...... :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :hystery: :hystery:

After a home invasion , and your firearm has produced a corpse, just do the local bailout route, ... scratch your head as if confused, shrug your sholders, and act stupid....it always works for the locals...... might work for you. ............................maybe.

To me it just shows how many idiots are descending on to the Philippines. Shooting, lying and just being undesirables. I could name a few myself but, nah wont go there. Really why are so many dumb and uninformed in these times such as forums and information technology ? Information is out there but if one chooses to ignore it good luck to them.

He desreves whatever he gets!!! I do not sympathise him neither i give him any excuse for acting so stupid.

First of all owning a gun as a foreigner is not allowed, unless it is licensed under you wife's name and found in the car you drive which is under you wife's name as well. if you use it to defend your self and you kill someone i am not sure what happens, most likely you are extorted a reputable amount of money and deported as well would be minimal.

Second you shoot it in a boat 100 meters from shore...what for? the hear the bang bang? Go to a shooting range and shoot whatever and as much you want for the price of a tip and the price of the bullets (9.75p/ 9mm).

Third you walk around with a stupid fake id, ok you might be able to fool some bar girls for a better and cheaper service or the local mmda traffic enforcer (not recommended both cases), but you present it as well on an official arrest of the police? Don't you have the simple brains that they will raise the phone and ask a few questions to their info resource and then you're *ucked without even vaseline?

Enjoy the stolishnaya and some gulash back home commrand, if you make it there and not enjoying the hospitality of the pinoy resort for foreigners at fort crame :)
