A previous post has been raised about moving to the RP,

well? what are the things ONE must do before he/she/the family actually moves?

Have you updated your WILL? (keeping it made BUT not in the RP )

have you updated your medical issues. shots, current meds?

are you currently in GOOD health? no major issues?

are you aware that some 1st world meds are NOT available here?

or they are more COSTLY $$$$. how will you get those here?

LIFE INSURANCE? is that updated?

I just recently found out that as being NOT A US resident I am not able to apply for US insurance ,

What about your CREDIT CARDS? will you plan to close some or all of them? (DONT close them) keep at least 2-3 major cards open in case of unseen events who knows you may return and then you would need them

Credit file? will you put a block on your CREDIT FILE?

why you ask

since your not there.someone could obtain your info and open up accounts(Id theft)

Mailing address?

are you going to keep your mail there? or sent to a forwarding service?

SSS/ Retirement funds ?

how will you continue the current payment mode? to the US bank you have or switch it to RP bank?

who is encouraging you to make this move? You? the wife? economics?

Do you plan to live closeby the "p .r, sites" i mean Family or FAR WAY?

have you discussed or made rules NOW on how to help them ?

VISA issues? will you enter on the BB visa? 13a?

Special Resident Retiree VIsa?

The family?

if your wife is still young enough, Do you plan to have any more Children? how have or will you plan for those expenses?

if you currently have under 18yo children, How are you planning to continue their eduaction ?

This is just some of the issues I have seen that some people may need to discuss or plan before the BIG MOVE.

please feel free to add other items.issues or topics that I have not raised or posted.

Good stuff there, mate. I have a spreadsheet with my "things to do" before I move. I just added a couple I forgot about - I keep forgetting to update my will.

Another good one I think is to get certified copies of major documents such as birth certificates, divorce decrees, DD214 (US military), Never know what one will need, and they can be hard to get from 7,000 miles away.

Also I recently went ahead and signed up for all the free life insurance policies my credit cards, banks etc wanted me to get. Don't pay any extra but the free $1,000 policies add up (I have about 10). This doesn't exactly apply here... but useful anyway.

Just make sure that the accounts are KEPT active , as being away from home, you may forget about an account & the inactive fees will start to take out your hard earn $$

Does anyone else have any other SUGGESTIONS or ADVICE they wish to share?
