Popular Post FlyAway Posted September 2, 2012 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2012 Been meaning to post this after seeing the McArthur Park post. Hill 120 is located in Dulag Leyte. This is the site where the first American flag was raised by the U.S. liberation forces on October 20, 1944. Here is a link to a website with more information. Looks like it has not been updated since 2008. http://www.tourismin...l-120-info.html My visit was May 2010. Looking at the terrain, one can only imagine what it was like climbing this hill as a soldier in WWII. They have stairs walking up and I can tell you it is a good climb. There is an elevated observation platform there as well. You can go up to the top of it and there is a spectacular view. Interesting statue's on the way to the observation platform. Memorial to Unknown Soldier. Japanese Memorial Like McArthur Park, this is another WWII historical site in need of a little TLC. Some people are making an effort to maintain it. CR facilities were not usable when I was there.
