Any recommended realty agents in the Manila, makati/barangay/mandaluyong areas?

Is the best way to find an condo to rent just to walk in off the street with a local friend?'

Any obvious tips to watch out for?

Thank you kindly. :) Matt

Some links with condo's for rent in Makati and other cities in NCR.

To find a "secure" condo in Makati for less than 1000 USD is gonna be a hard search.

Security for some condo buildings is only a guard at the entrance. The best security is to lock your valuables away and not brag to anybody what kind of expensive toys you have.

I think it's better to rent a (hotel)room for a while, look in local newspapers for adds or walk around and look for possible rentals. It may take some weeks before you find something suitable to your needs.

Going with an agent will only increase the rent and they show you what they value most.

Maybe try this,

Any obvious tips to watch out for?

These days many want post dated cheque's / checks for our US friends

Bonds are not always recovered.

Manila floods

The above listing wants 6 months in advance.

Condos are often small with bed against one wall

Agents and friends of agents or trike owners and the woman down the street are all agents.

sulit.com is another place to search

But as someone said above, best to stay at pension or hotel till you are sure of where you want to be.

I have no idea if there is a catch, the member asked permission to post her condo ad which is unusual in its self but like anything, one must check it out carefully.
