Do we have any members on here from Dipolog? I know there are members from Cagayan de Oro who live with no problems, just wondered whether Dipolog, as it's on Mindanao is in a non muslim/ trouble free area.

Actually the muslims are not as much of a problem it is the NPA and they are all over, but not in big numbers only in the hills, they use to be big in Calinan, my wife told me they had hiding places under the house for her brothers because the NPA try and force them to join, they forced 17 familys from Marilog last month so they could have a meeting, the Gov relocated the familys, maybe the military can get control of that problem soon.

My wife travels to Dipolog quite often. I have seen pictures and looks like nice city to me. Problems are not found all over Mindanao as many believe.

I didn't mean to imply that all Mindanao is problematic, I have been to Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Duka bay

right it can happen anywere, today in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines—A policeman was killed and another was injured when suspected members of the New People’s Army guerrillas allegedly raided a police station in Palawan province Wednesday morning, police said.

Captain Salvador Tabi, Police Provincial Office Palawan spokesman, said the still unidentified number of rebels wearing military uniforms and posing as members of government forces entered the Roxas town police station at 9:45 a.m., saying that they are to turn-over arrested rebel members.

Upon gaining entrance, Tabi said the men then introduced themselves as NPA rebels and disarmed the duty officers at the station.

A report said the NPA rebels seized at least eight firearms and some of the station’s communication equipment.

Some of the officers tried to fight off the rebels, Tabi said, resulting in the death of Senior Police Officer 3 Mancito Rabang, and injury to Senior Police Officer 2 Pablo Acosta.

Check point operations have been launched for the possible arrest of the rebels.

Meanwhile, other reports said another police officer, aside from Rabang, was killed during the raid, but Tabi was quick to clarify that this information is yet to be validated.

If you manage to be in Zamboanga del sur, then I suppouse you can be in Dipolog :)

(=Most north in Zamboanga del North. I have never been in either, but many kidnappings reported in Zamboanga del SUR. Some kanos said problem "everywhere" in Zamboanga, but the Filipins I have asked, said some have happened in the mountains in the south part of Zamboanga de North, but only one of them living in Dipolog/Dapitan said had heared of any problem up there and only once and not so big. But I don't know if they told truth, perhaps they don't want to scare us away :) All these were BEFORE the recent peace treaty with the muslims.)
