Markham Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 What? And exchange my "villa" here in Davao for a nasty little semi-detached place in Mandaue City - no thanks! I'm told that her successor is likely to be Tamsin Booth who may be related to the present incumbent. There are actually several Consulates in Cebu - America, Norway, Korea, France and China, there may be others.

I doubt very much that Tamsin would take over, lovely woman daughter of Moya & Tony Jackson, married to Bob Boothe, good friends of mine, that position is a very hard one, some people over the years have had good experiences with Moya, as I have. I respect the lady for what she has done and seen over the years, but some people like to spread bad feeling and words about this pillar of society. We have all come across her over the years. She has seen many good hearted, well meaning individuals which have made her job interesting and enjoyable, but she has also seen a lot, probably 10 fold more that came here & have abused the system, these people have had so many issues & problems it can only torture your sanity and well being, all of this and she has to smile or smirk as the case may be, because its her duty to help these people. For me the lady will be missed and who ever takes her place has some very big shoes to fill Edited April 18, 2013 by Geoff Thomas

For me the lady will be missed and who ever takes her place has some very big shoes to fill I've met Moya socially and had official business with her and my experience echoes your sentiments. She is a fine lady who tried her best to help wherever she could and I too will miss her. My wife who has also met and had dealings with Moya is sad she is retiring. By the way, we're also to get a new Ambassador in July whose name is totally unpronouncable.
Geoff Thomas Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) would be a nice thing if we could get all the good comments placed on here printed and given to Moya before she returns back to the UK, a thank you and tribute to the woman that helped where she could. Tall order or maybe possible? requires a little input, not sure how many good Brits there are out there 84 views thus far but only 4 people commenting?? Not sure how to do it but maybe a post wich all could post a thank you on that could then be printed and given to Moya, not from any one individual but from the forum as a whole If such a thing is p>ossible, perhaps the administrators could copy and paste this to it Moya, heart of gold head of a soldier, thank you for all your years of service, but most of all thank you for all your help and time, directing both myself an wife Anilou through the whole marriage process, with your wit and enthusiasm in carrying out your daily chores, we as a couple both found the experience enjoyable and hassle free, may you have a long and happy retirement. Best regards Geoff & Anilou Edited April 18, 2013 by Geoff Thomas
Markham Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 I doubt very much that Tamsin would take over, lovely woman daughter of Moya & Tony Jackson, married to Bob Boothe, good friends of mine, Well ... perhaps SunStar knows differently. The following article appeared on 8th April: A changing of the guardBy Jenara Regis Newman Sunday, April 7, 2013 THE Consular Corps of Cebu recently had its induction of officers for 2013. Inducted chairperson was Emilie Benedicto, honorary consul of Poland. The other officers inducted were Jose Sala, honorary consul of Sweden, vice-chairman, Carmel Durano, honorary consul of Poland, secretary, Jaime Picornell, former honorary consul of Spain, treasurer, and Robert Lee, honorary consul of Canada, director. Inducting officer was Ambassador Frank Benedicto, who was also the guest speaker. In her valedictory address, outgoing chairperson Russian honorary consul Armi Garcia cited the achievements of the group during her term, particularly the highly successful show, Fashion and Rhythm done in collaboration with Zonta, which made it possible for the group to donate ten wheelchairs to their favorite charity, the Cebu Society for Crippled Children. She also hoped that the countries represented in the Cebu Consular Corps would all celebrate their national days and that more cultural and trade ties be forged by them with the City of Cebu in the years ahead. Ambassador Benedicto, in his speech, emphasized the role of diplomacy to promote understanding between countries, between peoples so as to make peace, not war. This, he said, is the critical role of a diplomat. The simple induction ceremony was held at the Casino Español with members of the consular corps in attendance, including former honorary consuls Picornell of Spain, Arcadio Alegrado of Austria and Moya Jackson of England, whose countries are now represented by Anton Perdices for Spain, JulieVergara for Austria, and Tamsin Booth for England.
