Subic Bay Yacht Club

On Saturday we were invited to celebrate the first birthday of Oz's classmate Francine's little brother, Franco.  We had only briefly met the mom before, but both mom and dad turned out to be really nice.  They worked in Oman for 12 years, and now they decided to settle back into Zambales for a while, because that is where she are from.  They moved here the same time as us, April, and they are building a house outside the freeport.

I had been meaning to drop into the Subic Bay Yacht Club to find out more about it, and now I had my excuse to do so, as that is where the party was held.  On Google, I had seen that they have big pool area.  Luckily the rain backed off long enough for us to enjoy walking around the outdoor area, but you can see that the harbor is still murky from the 6 straight days of stormy weather we have had.

I'm guessing the club was built back in the 70's or 80's, or maybe even older.  It is fairly nice inside.  You can see some wear and tear.  The exterior areas also show some lack on cosmetic maintenance, as we often see here.  However, overall it is a nice place to visit.  I might consider it if we need a hall for a party in the future.  I found out that it cost 275p for day use of the pool, with no outside food allowed.

With over 7000 islands, the Philippines should be one of the worlds top destinations for world wide cruisers.

Can you imagine dropping anchor in Puerto Galera for a week and having your live aboard chef BBQ you fresh caught fish?

Pulling anchor and motoring off to El Nido on Palawan.......then on to some small deserted islet where the water is so clear you can see the red snapper munching your bait 50 feet down.....ohhhhhh my gawd!!!!!

All it takes is money......lots of it.
