I've had similar problems with Internet Explorer and secure sites as well in the past. Switch to Firefox!

Make sure you have the highest security installed. It should be there by default, but might not be.Go to Help > About Internet Explorer. You should see 256 encryption listed. If you don't, click the link to install it. There's lots of other options in the Tools > Internet Options > Security or Advanced sections that affect encrypted pages. Try resetting to default and see if that helps.I agree with Markham though that IE is pretty much crap. I'd recommend Safari over Firefox though because it does a better job of rendering pages. FireFox tends to have problems presenting some sites because it is not as flexible as Safari in how it interprets malformed HTML and other web programming.
