chang beer Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Hi there. I registered here many years ago and forgot my ID and pass code. I'm aware that many of you are long time expats there in Phils and very knowledgeable. I'd like to ask you questions about tax witholding on pension and what to do with affordable care act that is in place once you retire and live there in Phils. thank you Ken

Americano Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Hi Ken, I will give you some short answers to the questions you mentioned. Pensions and any income from the USA is still basically taxed at the same federal rate regardless of where you live in the world. My total income with a pension and Social Security Retirement is low enough that being married I don't owe any Federal Tax each year but I still file a return. And, state tax depends on which state is considered your home state. For example I'm from Alabama which does not tax my retirement pension. The percentage of tax varies by state. An American living in another country is not illegible for Obama Care. Please give specific questions and I'm sure someone will know the answers.
