Popular Post frosty (chris) Posted May 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2014 Hi all, this is just my experiences here in the Phils, so some of the newer members maybe can get an idea of the prices and goings on here. Olango Island. A good day trip at the end of Cordova on Mactan Island, get a banka boat across to Olango for 12pesos, is about a 15-20 min boat ride, smooth ride across, on arriving there are trycs to take you to the beaches again about 15 mins, we got one for 7 adults to Paradise Bay for 140 pesos one way. At the beach, huts are for hire 300 pesos for the day, as are small boats. Beach was ok, close to the mangroves, so good for exploring, is walkable at low tide and as with most places here the water is crystal clear. Was a good relaxing day, we took our own food but beer for a litre was 90pesos and coke 55pesos. So for the day all up for 7 adults was 1300 pesos. Organised with the tryc driver to pick us up at 4pm for the return trip, he was spot on. As usual in the Phils there is always something to put a smile on my face, on the return trip it was low tide, the boat couldn't get into the drop off point was to shallow, so they put us all( 40 + people) in a little dinghy for the last 50 metres or so to the wharf, got halfway there and hit bottom, no one knew what to do then :1 (103): , so was over the side and walk for the last 30 metres, ok if you had shorts on. Fishing Restaurant. This place is loads of fun. At Consolacion in Cebu. There is a restaurant set on a man made lake, full of fish. Is off the main road and about 10 min by tryc (8pesos)to get there. Has lots of huts for hire for the day, around 500 pesos, fishing rods are 10 pesos for the day, all they are is a bamboo rod with fishing line and hook. Just drop your line into the water and I bet you can't get a mouthful of ice cold SML before a fish will jump on your hook, we had to stop fishing as we caught about 7 kilos in an hour. You pay for the fish you catch 250 pesos a kilo, they will cook some of your fish for lunch and you can either leave the rest there or take them home. The food is all filipino and I enjoyed everything I ate there, the beer is very cold, cr's are extra clean and well maintained, all in all a good fun day out. Have been there 3 times and for the day usually works out around 350-400 pesos a head all up, just don't catch too many fish, oh and has fantastic halo-halo. The Phils is a wonderful country, full of happy and friendly people, just come with the right attitude and enjoy. I have been here 5 months now and never ever had a problem with anything or anybody, maybe I am just lucky :cheersty:
