Gratefuled Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I don't know anything about the adoption laws in the Philippines. I did notice quite a few older foreigners who had some very young accomplices. I don't know if they adopted them or if they were their caretakers.
Forum Support Popular Post Mike J Posted April 13, 2015 Forum Support Popular Post Posted April 13, 2015 The law and requirements varies depending on if the child to be adopted is related to one of the adopting parents (niece, nephew, etc). jon1 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I am sure that it is doable. Straightforward? Doubt it.

Are so you have done the Knee bend ask the Mater job then, You sly old Bug bag  JP  :tiphat: Actually, I haven't yet... Mom has known my (and Av's) intentions since before I came to the Philippines... When I do officially ask Mom, it will probably be either for us to set a date or we're leaving in the morning for the JP... Heck, Mom gave me her blessings at Christmas without my asking! But she also asked that we try to wait a year - just to make sure we still feel the same way before tying the handcuffs... Mom is a very very smart woman! :mocking: :tiphat:

MOTHER KNOWS BEST I waited a year before I married my Filipina. She had no problem waiting.
Methersgate Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 CAUTION! The Philippines is a signatory to the Hague Convention on International Adoption; an adoption in the Philippines is governed by the Convention. Some background here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adoption_in_the_Philippines http://www.hcch.net/index_en.php?act=conventions.status&cid=69 For UK nationals the relevant UK regulations are here - the important point to note is that the UK Government does not recognise an adoption in the Philippines. https://www.gov.uk/adoption-in-the-philippines I don't know, but I would expect the position in the USA and in Canada and Australia to be similar.
