It won't be till September 2016 but at that time we will be ready for a 3-6 month stay in Cebu. A month is too long to rent a hotel room and most apartments and apartels want you to sign at least a year lease. The one nice place that I found on the internet that will go month to month is Srawberry Residences. I looked at their website. Their rooms look nice and are reasonably priced. Is anybody familiar with this place? Also could they recommend other places for short term stay in the area around Cebu City? Thanks.

I posted briefly about Strawberry Residences a few months ago, search the forum and you'll find it (am using my iPad for this and correct link to the thread doesn't shiw in the header - look for "Arriving in Cebu Next Week.....").

To add to that post, SR is in a good location, it's close to some decent resto's and it's short walk to a Fooda grocery store. The facility is well maintained and clean. About the only thing I didn't like was the sofa, altough fairly comfy, it was small.

As a side note, they're building a new facility adjacent to it; it's near completion now. I have no idea if the rental prices there will be the same as the older building or not.

In general there's not a lot of fully furnished short stay rentals in Cebu City. Most of the newer ones are over priced and small. Also worth considering and close to SR in Mabolo is Santoni's Place. I was quoted 28K per month (Plus electric, etc).

Stay away from Tancor 1 and 3. Although the rooms are large, the location is bad as they sit pretty far off the main road. Getting a taxi is often a nightmare (guards request kickbacks from the drivers and as a result taxis don't like going there), they overcharge for electric (double the rate they get from Vecco) and they have a severe problem with sugar ants/roaches. The negative review on Trip Adivisor is about Tancor 3 (where I stayed last year) and pretty much sums it up. The only thing the poster left out was that in T3 there's an English language school on the ground floor (majority of the students are young Koreans and Japanse). Most of the students live in the building, so it's more like a dorm then a residence. The design of the building - center atrium - seems to enhance the noise level. In the evening they congregate in the atrium and you can't imagine the noise level. In addition they are fed 3 times a day - metal trays and metal chop sticks - I've heard marching bands that were quieter.

Thanks! That's a good bit of information I can't get from a web site. SR is a strong consideration. Tancor we'll stay away from.

Have a look at what is available on airbnb.com.  I have been searching for something similar to what you have been talking about and found that there are quite a few good apartments being rented on there.  A month to month contract will be a little more expensive than a full year contract, but much better than a weekly apartment.

As I have no idea of your budget or how many people staying or size of place you want i will just throw in some considerations.

The Montebello hotel has some monthly self contained suites and I stayed there for a month once, if you can't climb stairs than no good but great place to stay otherwise. A little expensive too but ask them for price and don't take any notice of the online price.

I just looked at airbnb.com . It has places even less than Srawberry Residences. Thanks for the info! :-)

Dont forget to add in the Air BnB fees! They add up fast for monthly stays!
