stevewool Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 With what is happening around the world in these last few years, home does not feel safe anymore, Now many of you folks have found a new place to call home, so do you feel safer where you live now, Yes terrorism can strike anywhere at anytime too, but being so far from Europe and the middle east do you think you are in a safer place now

Popular Post Kuya John Posted November 14, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) I feel relatively safe. I'm concerned about my neighbors, though. Hmmmmm If I was your neighbour I would be worried too! :hystery: On a more serious note.......the tragic events unfolding in Paris France must make most Europeans feel vulnerable. While on the one hand one must never give in to terrorists, on the other your priority is to your family and therefore they must come first. Safety is no longer guaranteed wherever you happen to live. It is not Religion that causes wars, its intolerance to live in peace with your neighbour that does. There has and always will be Tyrants in this world, but it is the will of the people that will win in the end. Without faith I'd have no hope........JB Edited November 14, 2015 by Kuya John
Vince Runza Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) I feel there is also a fundamental misunderstanding of the minds of these terrorists. We, who lived in liberal democracies, don't understand the authoritarian rule that many of these terrorists were molded by. We, in the USA, made the same mistake in Viet Nam: "...inside of every xxxx, there is an American, trying to get out!" Dave Hounddriver Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 do you think you are in a safer place now MILF, BIFF, AbuSayaf, NPA, to the south. Spratleys with Chinese occupation to the north. The local area has armed security guards who routinely get shot by criminals. But funny enough, I feel as safe here as anywhere else I may want to be. sh&t happens. Cross your fingers and keep a low profile.
Popular Post Jake Posted November 14, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2015 With what is happening around the world in these last few years, home does not feel safe anymore, Now many of you folks have found a new place to call home, so do you feel safer where you live now, Yes terrorism can strike anywhere at anytime too, but being so far from Europe and the middle east do you think you are in a safer place now Here in southern California, for the past few years now, I've been forcing myself to keep a presence of mind. Always mindful of my surroundings, even standing in line at McDonalds or waiting for a green light at an intersection. No I don't have a concealed to carry and only have a wooden baseball bat for home defense and a nice solid Maglite flashlight. I have already given my youngest daughter a cannister of pepper spray and constantly remind her to watch her six. In the Philippines, there are different kinds of potential threats to think about. At least in the Philippines, we don't have to worry about snipers along a major highway (interstate 10 through Arizona), mass shootings in school and churches. My greatest fear while living in PI was my mother in law. And that is a no chitter.
sonjack2847 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I feel safer here than I felt the last time I visited the UK and that was 4 years ago that I went there.
mogo51 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Whilst I have no safety fears here in Pattaya, I livea quiet life, Walking Street etc are not on my places to see list. I have never felt unsafe in my own country in the past, but would not think of walking around Bankstown (Sydney) areas of a night as it would lead to certain problems with young middle eastern background types. My fears here are the military junta and their ever increasing like for control. My thoughts and dismay is with the French people. But they will rest peacefully knowing that the UN response was to'deplore' the attacks as they always do - and nothing else, what a joke they are! When will it be time for Western world to say enough? We just cannot go on allowing this carnage to go unchallenged!
Popular Post Tukaram (Tim) Posted November 15, 2015 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2015 I felt perfectly safe in Dallas, TX, and I feel perfectly safe here in Iloilo. Certain dark alleys in either town might be a bad idea. Other than relying on common sense for basic safety I am just not worried. I am not paranoid - I just believe in situational awareness..... :tiphat:
