Chip, chipping away at peoples rights. While this law will be for everyone, we all know how and who it may be applied to more often than not. So yet another reason for people to be concerned what is in their computers.A LAWMAKER said Congress is now drafting measures penalizing photo and video voyeirism, in which uploading and selling sex videos and pornographic photos will soon be punishable with jail time. The House Committee on Justice has moved to fast track the approval of a bill imposing a stiffer penalty to persons who engage in photo and video voyeurism. The bill imposes a fine of not more than P500,000 and imprisonment of not more than six years. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cagayan-de-oro/h...s-pornographers

I don't get the opposition. The text of the bill isn't posted, but the article is pretty clear that they are talking about people posting pornographic pictures and videos on the Internet without the subjects permission. What's the problem with that?Do you guys honestly think people should be able to post porno videos of other people without their permission? The fact you allowed the video/picture to be taken should not mean your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend should be able to post it online or distribute it to other people. Rather than an anti-porn law, I view this as the govt. protecting the privacy of it's citizens.

I 100% agree with you if the law is not used improperly and is worded correctly, but I suspect that it will be just another of those laws that maybe be interpreted as they wish and might be used against expats to make money for the Phils. P500,000 fine tells me that money is what they are seeking and my guess is that it could be used against anyone who might have what the govt thinks is porno on their computers or if a person was to go to a site the govt was watching and even look at some porno. I am not totally sure how a computer works but my guess is that it is possible that when a person looks at an image or video that parts or the whole image or a video might be stored on their hard drive and that might be enough for some crooked SOB to say, pay me p250,000 or pay a fine of p500,000. IMO exorbitant fines just help corrupt officials make more money.I have no love for pornographers but even I like to look at a picture posted now and then. What do they say, curiosity killed the cat, well I am often curious and I would hate to be the cat that got killed.

I think the keywords are here in red, this is what they are stopping and to my knowledge I thought there was already a law against this in the Philippines.A LAWMAKER said Congress is now drafting measures penalizing photo and video voyeirism, in which uploading and selling sex videos and pornographic photos will soon be punishable with jail time.
