Please read the forum rules. Links spam and some other things are not allowed before you post anything else read the rules. Also please be respectful of other cultures that may be different than your norm. Yes in some cases dogs are eaten in Philippines and other Asian countries. It's fairly rare (no pun intended) that a dog would be consumed in Philippines but it is done usually because of extreme circumstances. 1

Ram1957 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Killing of a dog to eat is illegal here in the Philippines. It has been a practice in the past and some parts of the Country it still goes on mostly on Luzon. https://www.rappler.com/science-nature/life-health/63186-national-action-plan-dog-meat-trade 1

In the province, maybe medium rare.
Castaway Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 (edited) As illegal and rare as it may be, I often wonder about what's really in that Adobo at the Eatery. Coined from the Tagalog word aso (“dog”) and the Spanish cena (dinner), azucena is the stylized spelling inspired by the Spanish name of the white lily flower. Azucena used to be a very popular name for girls in the Philippines before the word asosena was coined. There are various Tagalized spellings. Up until the importation of Western sensibilities, dogmeat was a popular pulutan (canape) during drinking bouts. In the Mountain Province, dogs are raised for eating, but in the depressed parts of the city where dog eating is also a clandestine passion, dog-eaters scan the highways for dogs that have been run over. Or they find a family who wants to get rid of a fierce pet, or in desperation… Edited October 6, 2017 by Old55 Removed recipe
