This would be great if implemented and successful.

MANILA, Philippines — To make the process faster, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is looking at the online registration of motor vehicles.

At present, vehicle owners must visit an LTO office to submit the registration requirements, pay the required fees, and then receive their registration stickers or license plates, among others.

“Tinitignan na po natin ngayon ‘yung feature ng online renewal ng driver’s license. Hopefully, pati na rin po ‘yung online registration ng ating mga motor vehicles,” LTO Legal Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary Atty. Alex Abaton said during Friday’s Laging Handa public briefing.

(We are looking at the features of renewing drivers’ licenses online. Hopefully, we can also do this with the online registration of motor vehicles.)

Abaton noted that the LTO is continuing to find ways to maximize the use of technology for the public’s convenience.

“Bahagi po ito doon sa mga programa na kumbaga, gusto nating marating sa madaling panahon. Alam naman natin ‘yung technologies available nowadays and, we want to take advantage of all these improvements,” he said.

(These are part of the programs that we want to achieve immediately. We know the available technologies nowadays and want to take advantage of all these improvements.)

Recently, LTO’s licensing and registration systems experienced glitches that led to a backlog in transactions.

LTO and its information technology provider Dermalog then pledged to fix the lag in their systems.
