Every time I see the topic "short arms" I cannot help but think of the old military command "short arm inspection".  Those of you who have served and are 70+ years of age may know WTH I am talking about. :whistling:

Former US Marine here.  Those of us who could, presented "long arms" as opposed to those who were armed only with "short arms".  We were trained that Air Force guys were never issued, at birth, "long arms".  Maybe you gents, or a moderator, might send our sub-topic over to the Military and Veterans section.  Don't wish to offend those in a family forum.  I'd try it myself, but as a new guy here, "FNG" as we used to say, I'm a buck private who goes where he's told . . .

Done, but any of us non-vet old-timers who have watched lots of old action movies have a good idea what you mean.

Sea Story follows:  On liberty in Olongapo, I met up w/my best friend (a former 'river rat') who was then stationed on the USS  Mars  (AFS 1)(out of Sasebo).  We were in the Magic Glow club on Rizal, along with a half dozed of his shipmates, when  he called for a short arm inspection.  A plain looking older lady w/some really interesting cleavage immediately said: "I'll measure !!"

I came out in first place . . .  The well-endowed lady made sure that I went home with her.  That is how the lady with the best rack got the best armed sailor.  She was a Muslim woman from Bongao Island (the Southern most inhabited island in P.I.  She told the most amazing stories of growing up on Bongao.

Although we never had an exclusive relationship, I was close to her and her family for the next five years.  I paid for her adoptive daughter to attend high school, and she was my house girl for my final TAD assignment to the Armed Forces Police.  This is just one of the families/relationships that broke my heart when I left in1978.

I missed this one, old navy command for sailors to flash their JT before leaving ship as not to infect natives with diseases, now how do women sailors get on when that command is given, the mind boggles.

I don't doubt your story at all - funny and a bit heartwarming...

However, as just a rag-stretcher sailor (no military service), I thought all sea stories began with; "This ain't no $hit!"?:89:
