Bonus to workers?

We have had two guys working for us for some time. We have been happy with them and they will probably be finished in the next couple of weeks. In total they have worked for us around 5-6 weeks.

What will be an appropriate amount to give them as a bonus?

I really have no idea so any information would be appreciated.

1/13th of their pay.  BUT be sure to tell them it is their "advance Christmas Bonus" or they may well be back at Christmas looking for another 1/13th

Rather than cash, my suggestion is to gift them new tools.  For example, carpenters would highly appreciate purchases from a hardware store such as hammer, saw or a leveling tool.  Most start as apprentices buying 2nd or 3rd hand tools.  Keep them in the original package with the price tag removed.  Place them in a brand-new bag.  To calculate the amount to be spent on the gifts, estimate 5% to 8% of the total payment made for their labor.

We gave our cabinetmaker/carpenter/builder 1kphp after about the same duration.  He was working for 500php/day.  He was very grateful and tried to give it back saying "not necessary" but we insisted.  Quality work and other than morning and afternoon snacks for 10 minutes and lunch he went hard 10 hours a day or until he needed more materials.

Wife just based it on double a day's pay.  His 2 helpers received 600php at the end and were equally as grateful.

I guess it would scale differently in different income areas; we're in "The Province" so labour is cheaper.
