Tan will replace Rolen Paulino who tendered his courtesy resignation last month. To recall, Paulino quit his post to give Marcos Jr. a free hand in choosing choose “who he deems best to steer the SBMA/Subic Bay Freeport Zone to greater heights in terms of management and new business opportunities.” Under Republic Act 7227, otherwise known as the Bases Conversion and Development Act of 1992, Tan has a fixed term of six years.
