Hi Tim and welcome back to the forum. I am sure a lot of members will chime in and give some places to stay, I will tell you one that my wife and I had a bad experience in and that I would not recommend in case anyone tells you otherwise, that was Manila Townhouse hotel which is close to the airport but was full of roaches and other critters the last time we were there and unless that does not bother you, then you might want to avoid it but they are a cheap place to stay. Because of the holidays a lot of members seem to be taking some time off so be sure to check back for other answers. Edited by Mr. Lee

I just checked with one of my friends and he stayed at the Executive Plaza in Malate for 2,000P a night. Clean, quiet, with the casino right across the street. Maybe 8 blocks from the bay and 5 blocks from the US embassy.

I've stayed at Executive Plaza in the past when I had business at the Embassy. It was a good place to stay, but you should be aware that it is right in the middle of the red light district. If you don't mind staying in that neighborhood, its a good place to stay. Other good hotels in this area are Malvar Hostel and Casa Bocobo. If you want to get out of the red light district, try the Kabayan Hotel in Pasay. Its right on EDSA near the Taft Ave. MRT/LRT stations. Its about 20 minutes by taxi from the airport. Prices are about the same as the Executive Plaza. Edited by TheMason

I always stay at the Swaggman Hotel when I am in Manila. The resturant is very good. It is an older hotel so the rooms are a little worn. They have a free airport shuttle for arriving and departing guests, and a daily bus directly to Angeles if you are going that direction. It is directly across the street from the American Embassy and there are a number of other resturants very close. There is a Mall within a few blocks.
