4 military personnel killed in Maguindanao del Norte ambush

Unknown assailants ambushed and killed four members of the Philippine Army in Maguindanao del Norte on Sunday.

According to a post by the 6th Infantry Division, the victims were killed while aboard a civilian vehicle on their way back to the patrol base in Tuayan 1, Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao del Sur at 10 a.m.

The victims were said to have been returning from buying food for Iftar for the Muslim community in their area, which they often did during Ramadan.

Two privates, a private first class, and a corporal were among the victims of said ambush.

“Kinokondena natin sa pinakamataas na antas ang brutal na pagpatay sa ating tropa,” said 6th Infantry Division commander Major General Alex Rillera.

He added that the attack was inhumane, especially as it was conducted during the Ramadan season and just before Holy Week.

Security operations have been tightened around the area while the suspects remain at large
