Hey Sarge... That's a great bit of news if it is followed through against the deadbeats out there. However, it is best if you quote the actual text from this link along with the link itself. This is because links often expire or become no longer accessible, so this makes the quoted content to still be available for all to read. This is per forum rules also... Thanks!

I thought this was in effect many years ago. Maybe not at the federal level.

My ex divorced-robbed me mid 1990's. Washington State seized my passport until the divorce was settled.

At that time if a Washington State resident became excessively delinquent in support while outside the US their passport would be canceled*  I can't remember the exact legal action.

Australia has been doing this for years.  I know a few non-custodial parents, both men and women, that have been pulled up and stopped at airports from leaving Australia until the debt is paid in full.

Good job I reckon; I was never one to whine about the child support I paid; the Aussie formula is pretty fair and hell, they're my kids and I love them, even putting aside what I see as a moral obligation.  My youngest turned 18 in 2015, so the obligation ended then.

I didn't mind paying child support either though at times I disagreed with how it was spent. Too late I realized that one secret to obtaining wealth was not getting married too often and never live anywhere that allows alimony. However one can eventually work themselves out of any hole they previously eased themselves into.

The other unfortunate extremes are places like the Philippines where child support is not enforced. However even that has an upside as that situation often allows less than handsome older foreigners to believe however briefly that they are handsome and wealthy while giving much needed support to long gone Juan's child.

This will work in countries that have immigration laws that are enforced. How many times have we heard of guys "out of status" getting deported only after they violate another law.

But what about garnishment? I had lots of soldiers who got their pay garnished over child support delinquency.

The only way to get these guys who just hide out is to make them poor, then the lady that they are supporting will turn them in or throw them out of the house once the cash dries up :hystery:
