Mark25 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I'v been using a VPN for years in the states, when I got here the other day I logged on to one of my banks, and a page popped up stating my address was not compatible or not in the United States, I was unable to access my account. I did not realize the my VPN connected to a Philippine server, I then connected to a server in the United States and logged in again and was able to see my account. I now have a profile on my VPN for a server in the United States. Has this happened to anyone else here?
JJReyes Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago US financial institutions are cautious when they determine your internet server is not located in the United States. The practice is for your protection because of the constant attempts to scam the banking system. I personally don't mind the additional headache. Sometimes a phone call becomes necessary to explain the situation. Funny but true story. Pope Leo decided to telephone his bank in Chicago to give them his new address. The verification process went well, but the person on the other end said, as a customer, he had to personally go to the bank to complete the change. He asked, "Would it help to say that this is Pope Leo?" The girl hanged up. A church official in Chicago known to the bank officials had to make the request. starrt Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago We don't have bank accounts in the US, just here in the Philippines and in Canada. My VPN has never been an issue with any of the banks, no matter which server I connect through.
