Fil-Am shoots self in Lapu-Lapu City Updated January 08, 2009 12:00 AM Cebu - A 27-year-old Filipino-American shot himself in the head in front of his friends early yesterday morning in Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.Gilbert Jao Lopez, a front desk clerk at a hotel in New York City, is currently in critical condition at the Cebu Doctor's Hospital.According to Lopez' friends, they just arrived at their house from a drinking spree when Lopez picked a 9 mm pistol and jokingly pointed it to his head.His friends reportedly tried to stop him but instead of heeding the advice, a drunken Lopez instead loaded the gun and pulled the trigger.Lapu-Lapu City police said it is difficult to consider that foul play was involved in the incident considering that Lopez reportedly never showed any signs that he has problems."Maglisod man ta og establish kung naay problema si Lopez kay ingon sa iyang mga higala, wala man gyud problema," said SPO2 Rex Ybanez.Lopez arrived in Cebu last month and is supposed to return to the US after the Sinulog.
