I grew up in Northern and Southern California my entire adult life, but my 30 yr carrer with the U.S. Government took me to alot of different places. A few of my friends never have even been out of the State of California their entire lives! Places I've been in the U.S. & abroad during my military and civilian carreer:In the U.S.: California; the Redwood forest, Golen gate bridge, Coit tower, Fisherman's wharf, Lombard St, China town, Alcakatraz in San Francisco, too many to list or recall the rest! Washington State; Seatle nice place, saw Bill Gates' castle, fisherman's wharf great place to eat seafood. Smoked kippered salmon is great! Arizona; what impressed the most was Sadona, Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon, Camelback mountain, Verde river and Lake Havasau. City of Phoenix not too great! Texas; River Walk and their oval freeway going around Austin and Dallas! Nevada; of course the casinos, lakes and beautiful mountain log cabin homes. Illinois; Chanute, Rantol, Champlain where I went to Technical School to learn to work and fix airplanes. Chicago, the Windy City!Bostom, Mass; Went there for a week to court a Filipina, but didn't pan out! Oh well!Kansas; went there with a friend on a family reunion, but now my ex-girlfriend. Alaska; worked on C-5 aircraft in 16 deg below weather! Great smoked salmon though!Hawaii; Honolulu, Waikiki beach, we used to own a timeshare there just walking distance to Waikiki beach and the International Market Place!Guam, USA; temporary duty with the USAFR working on C-17 and C-5 aircrafts.Overseas places: Philippines; Region of Luzon, pretty huge land mass and can't possibly go and see everything in a life time! Other places associated with my work on temporary duty assignments; Too long to describe my experiences and other places, times and dates that couldn't be mentioned here since it may still be classified as Top Secret and not yet released by the (FOIA) Freedom Of Information Act, complicated stories! Japan, Okinawa, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Moscow, S. Korea, India and Africa. That's why I truly enjoy my kicked back retirement life here in the Philippines! I'm all worn out! Great Topic Guys and I suppose it helps new members to get to know a little about the others on this forum for those who feel comfortable to share. Like Art and others there may be too many places and jobs to describe them all, but here are the basics.Born Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, 1955, Parents and 1 sister all English, but my father was raised in Ireland, and was in the Royal Horse Guards, (musician), before transferring to Royal Canadian MilitaryMoved to Soest Germany (Canadian military base) when I was 5, lived there for 2 years, Moved to England, Yiewsley West Drayton, to live with my Maternal Grandfather, there 1 yearMoved to Montreal Quebec Canada for 2 yearsMoved to Kingston Ontario Canada, for 5 yearsThen over the next 14 years lived, worked or travelled between Brockville, Gananoque, Arnprior, Kingston Mills, and finally London Ont. Canada. During this time I visited and lived for short periods of time (1 to 6 months) in , Grand Forks North Dakota, Florida (Naples), Ladyville Belize, Grand Cayman Islands (Old Man Bay).Moved to England 1989, lived and worked in several areas, Shepperton, Sunbury on Thames, Dunstable, High Wych, with a short stint in Sydney Australia (only 3 months) and travelled extensively through most of Europe, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands etc.Moved to Klang Malaysia in 2001, and then worked and lived in Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Singapore and back to Malaysia, for short periods of time.Travelled between Malaysia and Philippines from 2007 to 2009, when I finally moved to Philippines full time, met and married the most wonderful Filipina and now have a 6 month old daughter. Living and working (hopefully soon again that is) in Pasig Manila, however my plans are to eventually settle in either Cebu or Palawan. Yes that makes me 55 years of age, and getting younger by the day now that I am here!Papa Carl

Yes Lee, learned a lot. Those were places that I worked and saved to visit...some satisfaction gained there as done by myself. If i were to mention places visited because of work the list would be endless and the satisfaction not so high as work put me there.
