luke Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 It's not much different in the big city. Last year during a typhoon passing by a tree in front of the house fell between 2 poles and took all wires with it. Because of the electric wires stretched, it started fusing together, first red glowing then exploding like fireworks. After a while Meralco came by and cut off the power. Since the storm was still raging on no repairs could be done. Next day poles were replaced and power restored. Couple of days later cable TV/internet restored. However, according to the fire department of Makati, 90% of indoor fires are caused by electrical overload. Like having the whole house on a flimsy extension cord. Filipinos have no idea about electrical safety.
