Bruce Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) I have a 99 Softail Custom, no way can I see myself sitting in traffic for hours over a hot engine on a sweltering humid day. Big bore bikes are just not practical in Philippine traffic conditions unless you are out in the province. Doug It is more than just sitting in traffic, it is also turning out in the province in some tight areas. This is why I bought a 400. I can pick it up if I drop it. Out on Samar, it is great touring roads, but not so great for big bikes and the road surface is often full of pot holes. Makes sense, would probably beat a big bike to death on a rough road as well. I dropped my bike in some loose gravel one time, layed it over on my ankle, at 650lbs no way could I get it off of me, had to wait for help. Need something smaller and more agile in the Philippines.
