Hmm yes when I checked online I noticed most of the air purifiers are over priced in Philippines  probably because most of them there don't use air purifiers even though the pollution levels are very high . The Clair BF2025 room air purifier I'm using isn't expensive , portable and easy to clean considering I have to carry them wherever I go (use it inside my car as well) ...the reason I was looking for something similar . I have 3 of those but I don't want to include too much stuff in my hand baggage and was looking out for alternatives.

 

I think it's still perceived as a luxury product, rather than a necessity. Same in China, where most people have terrible indoor AQ but still use no air purifier. That's exploited by many companies who sell really overpriced units with really really simple mechanics.

 

I like my Philipps though, it has a sensor and shuts itself off or to silent mode when air pollution is low or when there's no light source (I am sleeping). But for heavy duty air cleaning on rough days in Beijing I use the above mentioned smart air unit, very effective.
