How long have you known her for Bob? This directly reflects the amount to be spent.  If only a few months, a lot of Filipino ladies use those little phones that are as cheap as chips, seems to work for them.

Over 1 year now Mogo.  Not looking for the most expensive and not the cheapest.  Just trying to find a happy middleground.  Thanks very much!

J series, J2 is the basic smaller sized model, J5 more advanced function and J7 largest screen (Almost too large really). More or less that. They all work well.

Hi Bob, if you do a google search of Samsung phones in the PI, it will give you a pic and price of phones available here, having said that, if one thing is available here it is mobile phones, the country is flooded with shops selling them, good luck.

Thanks again Frosty!  I just conducted the search you suggested and the results are great!  Very helpful and informative!

Why dont you tell her to go to SM or ayala and look for a phone. From memory they both have a phone section. $100 won't get much of a phone anywhere in my opinion if you want it to last awhile.

If you want cheap, http://smart.com.ph/prepaid/whats-new/smartphonekit

Look at the phones they offer to get an idea. Pre paid? http://store.smart.com.ph/smart/prepaid/

You might also consider where she is as to whether a 2, 3 or 4g phone will suit, check coverage for Davao here, http://www.sensorly.com/map/2G-3G/PH/Philippines/Smart/gsm_51503/Davao#|coverage
