For Fish and Chips you are living in the wrong place, For Instance, we have quite a few Bars, Restos and English/European Run places that do fantastic Fish and Chips ( Dumaguete Area) If I was so moved (and I am thinking this) I guess this would be a venture I may try BUT and there is always a but a Constant supply of the Fish that is best may be the problem BUT............ I am making the round of inquires believe me.

intrepid Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Only been here a little over a year so still like my western food. We made Shepherds Pie today. But I do like many local dishes also but prefer my wife's cooking. She picks better cuts of meat and trims the fat the way I like.

I've even gotten my wife to like it also.
Popular Post virginprune Posted June 17, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 17, 2017 I do the vast majority of the cooking so much of it has a western touch to it. Saying that I also cook Chinese, Thai, Indian and Filipino dishes as authentically as possible. I have never bothered with a steak here, didn't eat them often in uk either, but I do use cheaper cuts like blade and shin, sometimes goat, for long slow cooking for stews and curries. I make my own burgers, MacDonalds is ok as long as you only eat the packaging, I don't like anything from Jollibee or Chowking but if I'm feeling like a slut I might partake in KFC. We eat fish about three times a week, I usually bake in the oven if large or fillet and fry in breadcrumbs if small. Fish steaks I usually either steam or make in a coconut curry. I try to get us to eat vegetarian at least once a week, that is usually either with pasta or I will do lentil dhal with flatbreads. We always have a good amount of fresh vegetables and/or salad with most meals so we have a good balanced diet.

Gary D Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 what I like when eating at Gerry's Grill is the fried fish fillets from the starter menu with added french fries, makes a passable fish n chips.
mogo51 Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 The best fish and chips I ever had was many years ago in Warrington, UK as we were waiting to get tickets for Australia v Warrington, on a football trip. One of our former club players was playing for Warrington Ray Price, who was one of the best players I have ever seen. The fish & Chips were amazing. Here in Thailand, you can only get fresh water or 'harvested' fish which has no texture or taste.
