Sounds like they are all over this job!!!! haha

They are doing roadworks here in Bauang on the National Highway in 3 areas between here and San Fernando.  They bring river boulders that have to be crushed to make 'roadbase' of a sort, they use small concrete and hand mixers  and occasionally a truck with turn up with ready mix.  I have to say they work hard, even in the pouring rain and yes, they are laying concrete in the rain!!!  But such antiquated and labor intensive process. Still TIP.

Kinda makes you wonder about the work ethics and adherence to building codes when you reside at the top of a high rise condo.

By the way Ron, what is TIP?

I think big projects are managed properly. The new Ayala over the road looks to be being built to the same standards as western countries. Even the same safety standards on site.

Although something went wrong with this one in Manila.

And this one in Cebu last July:

THE Cebu City Government ordered the abandonment of its condominium on N. Bacalso Ave. due to the danger it poses to the students who live there. Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he will be filing a complaint for criminal negligence against those who were responsible for the facility’s construction. “We will be filing charges against the contractor. That condominium was an anomaly. They failed to follow proper procedures, which include soil boring to see whether the foundation was good enough. That’s criminal negligence,” he said

Let us know how the road turned out. Some concrete roads here are good while others are like driving over a series of speed bumps.

We are having a horrendous time in Puerto Galera at the moment. They are upgrading the road from Puerto Galera to Sabang and making a complete pigs ear of it. For some reason only known to them they dig up the cracked concrete in about 400m stretches then try to use a roller to flatten what's left. Due to the rainy season it turns the road into a mud bath with mopeds sliding everywhere and hidden rocks under the mud for added fun. I've been here just under 3 months and in that time they've dug up about 880m and concreted properly about 100m of road the full width and two strips about 100m long on one side of the road. At this rate it'll take about 3 years to complete. The road previously only had large cracks running along it. Now with the parts dug up and traffic dragging the mud in their tyres it's turning into a death trap. It can be one week between seeing any workers.
