Clermont...at that price, I could not afford to buy the beer to cry in!

To be fair that is the price for a beer served to you by bar staff in a hotel in Australia in a major city.

If you go to a super market and buy a slab (case) of cans then it costs from $40 Australian ($30 US roughly).  That makes each 370ml can of beer cost about $1-60 Au or $1-20 US.

Australia has high wages and very high rents which is why ‘served’ drinks cost so much.

That's about GBP 1. Give or take a few pence. UK beer price or a bit dearer. 1.25 pounds for a can.

Thanks, Geoff! Yeah, I understand - bar prices must be high to cover overhead. That's why I rarely buy drinks at bars or restos. Even with the "discount" of Aussie $ to US $, I found OZ to be fairly expensive overall and was surprised by that...But there was also value in most of what I bought there - food, hardware, services. You get what you pay for there, for sure! Anyway, it's a great country with nice people (mostly).

Back in 1993, I anchored the yacht in Carmel, CA next to the Pebble Beach Golf Club. Had a gin and tonic (bar tonic, bar gin) in the clubhouse (just to say I did!) for a handy US$16 - plus tip!

So I'm not sure if it is good or bad that beer here is so cheap (and very good!). Same with the Tanduay - at about US$2.50/750 ml.

I use to drink red Horse beer for 600 a case and San Mig 560 a case but the red horse had a kick to it. Problems going up the stairs, 2 steps and 1 step down. So I went back drinking San mig. :56da64a8e0a60_13_4_101:

Mike... unless my in-the-head-math is incorrect, it appears that the Spanish out-drink even Aussies annually? Figuring the cost at supermarket price and annual consumption? I always thought Spanish preferred wine since they make such good ones...

Cheers and thanks for the rate sheet comparison!:cheersty:

A high quality craft IPA here in Washington State is 150 pesos each per six pack or 250 poured in a tavern.

SM Pilsen here is ~50-100 Pesos each per six pack.

What are bottles of 18 year Tanduay rum going for now?

I'm not sure I understand your wording.  So, a 6 pack is p900?  About 17 usd?  That is for a craft IPA.  How much is a 6 pack of Coors or Bud these days?

I was always happy buying various off the wall beers at Trader Joes.  They usually had some good ones for a nice price.
