I know for sure that Globe didn't remove our old copper cable when installing fiber despite local requirement to do so.

Odd, any half-smart worker would know that copper is worth a bit as scrap.

Think of the labour cost though in actually untangling the mess and avoiding being electrocuted!

Well I have taken the plunge and will move to Dumguete in March.  The wifi at the place I booked is shared with loads of others, so might be slow at times.  I will likely buy my own wifi package, so any hints on which provider works best there would be great.  Have heard good and bad things about Globe.  How is it with Smart? PLDT?

I was with Globe fibre in Dumaguete and they didn't miss a beat.  Above advertised speeds and no downtime for the 5 months we were there.
